For the past 11 years, New Beginning – the mind centre, Cuddalore had provided quality outpatient care to the entire spectrum of mental health issues like anxiety, stress, relationship problems, alcohol dependence, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia etc. Of late it had extended its service to Puducherry providing both outpatient and inpatient services.

MEDICATIONS

Evidence based medicine is followed with in house 24*7 pharmacy. The pharmacy is equipped with all latest medicines for all psychiatric illness and co-morbid conditions like diabetes, hypertension etc.

COUNSELLING

Ours is the only psychiatric centre in Puducherry to have in house psychologist and psychiatric social workers. All psychometric assessments like IQ test, personality test, projective test and neuropsychological batteries are done. We give equal importance to non-pharmacological treatments and all outpatients are first assessed and counselled by our social workers cum psychologist and then sent for psychiatrist consultation. Ample quality time is spent with each patients by our empathetic staffs. Apart from supportive counselling marital/family therapy, group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and vocational/career guidance are given.

IN PATIENTS

If the patient condition requires admission we have a 30 bedded hospital. The hospital is well staffed with round the clock nursing officers/ ward boys, in house psychiatric social workers and psychologist and visiting consultant physicians. The hospital is equipped with Intensive Care Unit [ICU] and psychiatric interventions like Electroconvulsive Therapy [ECT], Brain Polarizer, Aversion Therapy and soon to be installed repetitive Treanscranial Magnetic Stimulation [r-TMS].
